The School District of Palm Beach County is a national leader in providing innovative learning opportunities to help students reach their highest potential. Our District provides families with a variety  of school choice options and encourages parents/guardians to learn more about these opportunities. Explore the school choice options below that are available during the published application windows:

Request for Student ID: (No longer accepting applications) To register your child for the current 2023-2024 school year, please contact your zoned school.

In order to submit a Choice application, a Palm Beach County Student ID is required.  This request for a Student ID number is for the purposes of submitting a Choice application, only. If your child has previously been associated with any district school/charter school, Home Education or Exceptional Student Education (ESE), your child should already have been assigned a Student number. If you are seeking immediate enrollment in a school, please contact your zoned school directly. If at any time you choose to enroll your child in a School District of Palm Beach County school, you are required to complete a 'New and Returning Student Registration' form and provide the school with updated documents. Allow up to 10 business days for your request to be processed. To register your child for the current 2023-2024 school year, please contact your zoned schoolRequests for the 2024-2025 school year for the purpose of submitting a LATE Choice application are no longer being accepted.

 

Choice Programs: [March 12 - April 12] The late Choice application window is now closed.  Choice programs offer the opportunity for students to discover their talents and explore their interests while focusing on academic rigor. Applications are accepted for assignments the following school year. In-house programs are available only to students residing within the school attendance zone. The selection of students is a lottery-based process. All applicants must have a Student ID to submit an application. On-time Choice Applications for the 2024-2025 school year are no longer being accepted. 

If your child has been assigned to a program in a previous year's lottery, you do not need to reapply to that same program for next school year. You can confirm your enrollment status with the Choice coordinator if needed.

Choice Program Application Deadline Dates:

LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED MARCH 12 - APRIL 12, 2024. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN THE MARCH CHOICE LOTTERY. THE NEXT APPLICATION WINDOW WILL BE FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

 

Controlled Open Enrollment: [April 15 - May 31] Controlled Open Enrollment allows students to apply for and attend a school outside their regular attendance zone. Pursuant to F.S. 1002.31, the SDPBC will allow a parent from any school district in the state of Florida whose child is not subject to a current expulsion or suspension, to apply for an assignment to an available school for the following school year. The selection of students is a lottery-based process. All students seeking an assignment in an available school should apply through Open Enrollment. The application for the 2024-2025 school year will be available April 15, 2024. Student Reassignment: [April 15 - May 31] Parents/guardians may request a student reassignment to a school outside the student’s attendance area. All requests are reviewed pursuant to School Board Policy 5.015. Reassignments will be accepted for the following reasons only: Employee, Moving into Zone, & Senior/Last Grade. All other requests can be submitted through the Controlled Open Enrollment Process. The application for the 2024-2025 school year will be available April 15, 2024. District employees needing assistance may send an email to choicequestions@palmbeachschools.org.

Late Choice Program Applications 2024-2025 (November 1, 2023 - April 12, 2024)

Important Select this option to submit a late Choice program application for the 2024-2025 school year.

Controlled Open Enrollment 2024-2025 (April 15, 2024 - June 30, 2024)

Important This application is to submit a request to be reassigned to a school other than your currently zoned school. This includes reasons of school preference, supervision hardship, majority-to-minority and any  other reason you may want to attend a different school.

Important Student Reassignment allows Parents/Guardians an opportunity to request a student reassignment to a school outside the student’s attendance area for specific reasons; all other reasons should be submitted through the Controlled Open Enrollment application.
