The Department of Choice and Career Options offers a variety of school choice options for students in PreK-12th grade. 


School District of Palm Beach County Non-Discrimination Statement

The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida, prohibits discrimination in admission to or access to, or employment in its programs and activities, on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or sexual orientation, marital status, age, religion, disability, genetic information, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic prohibited by law. The School Board also provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.

The School District of Palm Beach County offers the following career and technical programs, including career academies wherein students may earn industry certification, visit the Programs of Study page for more information as well as a list of classes.

Lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation. The district may assess each student’s ability to benefit from specific programs through placement tests and counseling, and, if necessary, will provide services or referrals to better prepare students for successful participation.

Choice Programs

Families with students entering Pre-Kindergarten through grade 12 have the opportunity to choose from an array of theme-based curricula offerings at the elementary, middle, and high school levels that provide innovative and rigorous academic instruction by specially trained teachers. These programs provide students with a pathway to post-secondary educations and career options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Controlled Open Enrollment (COE)

Controlled Open Enrollment allows parents/legal guardians to apply for an available school the following school year. The only requirement to apply for COE is the parent/legal guardian and student must reside within the state of Florida. The selection process is completed via a random lottery selection.

Students meeting the criteria outlined in School Board policy 5.018 may be eligible for a student reassignment. All reassignment requests will be reviewed accordingly.
